Brothers and Sisters,
Do you worry about things in your life? Does an underlying anxiety permeate your thoughts?
Even in America, with its excessive wealth, anxiety over finances and housing can overwhelm. We may not realize, however, that worry and anxiety shows a failure to trust God or to believe what He told us. Some even equate worry with love of another person. ("I always worry about you!")
Jesus says that the root of anxiety is inadequate faith in our Father's grace. One reaction to this might be: "This is not good news! In fact, it is discouraging to learn that what I thought was a mere struggle with an anxious disposition is rather a far deeper struggle with whether I trust God."
When anxiety strikes and blurs our vision of God's glory and the greatness of the future that he plans for us, it does not mean that we are faithless, or that we will not make it to heaven. It means our faith is being attacked. Fight Back!!!
Fear strikes, and the battle begins. The Bible does not assume that believers will never have anxieties. Instead, the Bible tells us how to fight when they strike!
Love in the Name of Christ
