Dear Partners in prayer,
John the Baptist said 10 “Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I.... He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” Mt. 3: 10-11
The need is for repentence. The Greek word, “metanoia” is translated repentance. It comes from two words: ‘beyond’ (or after) and ‘mind’ (perception, understanding). It means going in one direction of thinking, then turning 180 degrees and going in the opposite direction. At one time we all were moving AWAY from the salvation of God through our Lord Jesus. What we are required to do is TURN AROUND and set out in the direction of making Him the Lord and Savior of our life. We may call it “being born again,” “asking the Lord into your life,” “giving your life to the Lord,” “being baptized in the Spirit” etc… Whatever we call it, any life that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Our verses this month will focus on changing the path of our mind TOWARD Him.
