Dear Prayer Partners,
The Feast of Tabernacles begins at sundown on September 30th, and runs through the first week in October. What do Jesus’ words in John 7 have to do with this feast?
John 7: 37-39
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
The feast was a celebration of God’s provision while the children of Israel were homeless in the desert for the 40 years. God provided the spiritual food (manna) and drink (from the Rock). Jesus declares that He is the source of that food and drink. As we go through this month, we will look at verses in both testaments regarding God’s provision, for Israel and for us as grafted into that family. Enjoy this study!
