CarePortal

What Is CarePortal?

CarePortal is a vital Gap Ministry of Love INC of Charlottesville / Albemarle that links individual churches with local children and their families who are in crisis by providing goods, resources and a sense of community to help keep families together and children out of the foster care system.

How It Works

CarePortal is a care-sharing tool developed by the Global Orphan Project that uses digital technology to match area church responders with needs submitted by child health and welfare agencies and related non-profit organizations. These groups interact directly with vulnerable children and their families helping to identify those most in need of assistance. Responding churches, in turn, are well-positioned to help meet those needs and develop longer term relationships with the families as the situation affords.

Love INC’s Role With CarePortal

Because of Love INC of Charlottesville / Albemarle’s long-standing history of “helping churches help people”, Love INC was recruited by CarePortal to serve as the area’s “Implementing Partner”. In this role, Love INC helps encourage local churches to receive the necessary training to participate in the ministry’s mission. Love INC also helps facilitate cooperation among the participating churches to better allocate needed resources. Love INC can also directly submit requests for church follow up when necessary.

Impact In Our Region

Since launching in the Charlottesville / Albemarle area in February 2024, the area’s responding churches have helped meet the needs of children and their families and contributing approximately $200,000 in time and resources to the ministry.
